Hello, I’m Yakiimo!

What’s the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition really like?

I will answer the question.

Yakiimo
Yakiimo

I conclude from my experience of using it for over 3 months!

demerit

Runs slow and frustrating! Very unsuitable for comics and rereading! ipad and iphone win!

Advantages
  • My eyes are not tired! I don’t even think of it as an electronic device. It also feels good on the skin.
  • The battery lasts a long time (enough for about 2 weeks, about 1h reading per day). To be honest, I wish the battery would run faster because I don’t want the battery to run down too fast.

Still, the overall rating is a good one (◎). Because it is easy on my eyes and I use my ipad to read back.

demerit

Operation is slow.

The most disappointing thing is that the operation is one tempo slower.

It may be a problem with my connection, but people who are used to smartphones and computers will be a bit confused.

For example, when I go back to the library to read another book or scroll down, I feel the slowness.

Also, when I try to zoom in on an image that appears in the middle of a sentence, it is choppy. It is as slow as the old windows.

However, it is possible to read a page of text without any discomfort.

Unsuitable for lying on one’s back

Kindle paper light can be held with one hand, but it is difficult to hold on your back.

The best way to hold it is with one hand standing or sitting.

When I read on my back or side, I touch the screen as hard as I can, but then the page goes to the next and back.

I personally don’t want popular highlights.

Perhaps where others have drawn a line in the text, it appears as a popular highlight.

It didn’t go away when I put it in airplane mode (airplane status).

I’m going to make a weird statement, but I think of it as a one-on-one pause when I’m reading a book.

I feel one safe base there.

It’s hard for me to feel like there are a lot of other people in that small community.

Also, the novel has this popular highlight.

It was a feature I didn’t need.

Light reflects a little.

Kindle paper light is significantly less reflective than a smartphone.

I have a protective film on it, but it is still less reflective.

But there is a little reflection because of the protective film.

The light from an orange bulb at night shows up quite clearly.

monochrome

The screen is monochrome and looks like a Game Boy.

Color expression is not possible.

Therefore, a color image inserted in a Kindle Paper Light becomes a black-and-white image.

It is not suitable for photo collections.

This is unfortunate because it looks like a photo from a Japanese textbook and is like a reference book.

Cartoons are unsuitable

I can read manga without any problems.

I don’t really mind the slow loading.

I can read large text without any problem.

But normal characters are decisively small.

I have a feeling that the ruby of Kanji characters is as big as my finger’s sakamuke. I can’t read them anymore.

Of course, you can make it bigger with your index finger and thumb (pinch out), but it’s hard to read because the action is jerky and you can’t see the whole picture.

I felt it would be better to use an ipad or a PC for comics.

The standby image is a wonder

When the power button is pressed, the device goes to sleep and the standby screen appears.

The evaluation of that image is a wonder? The images are basically stylish, but some of them are subtle.

They are basically stylish, but there are some that I find subtle.

I have a phobia of aggregates, and there are quite a few images that look like that.

At that time, I feel a little disappointed.

Three lines in the upper right corner > Settings > Device options > Show cover

to display the cover of the book you are reading!

Water drops…

The kindle paper light seems to have a waterproof feature, but I have not tried it.

More importantly, water droplets lead to difficulty in reading.

Like water droplets on glass, one smudge makes it look twice as dirty.

If you are going to read in the bathtub, it would be better to prepare something to wipe it thoroughly.

Even at 100% charge…

I couldn’t figure out the signal when the charge reached 100%.

That may be because I am using a cable that says it charges quickly, not a regular cable.

When charging, there is a light next to the button that glows, but I wondered if it would turn off when it reached 100%. I thought it would go away, but it didn’t.

Too bad!

Charging is slow!

The charge is slow to 100%.

I charged it at about 11:00 pm before going to bed at night and when I looked at it at 7:00 am it was at 98%.

Maybe it lost 2% the moment I pulled it out, but anyway, I have the impression that it is taking a long time.

It is just a feeling, but I can close my eyes because I charge it about once every three weeks.

Advantages

Eyes are not tired.

This is the biggest advantage I feel I usually get from reading e-books.

My eyes get tired when I read on my phone or ipad.

But with kindle paper light, eye fatigue is totally different.

The physical feeling is that I can see things as if I were looking at them naturally. It’s strange.

It has automatic brightness adjustment.

With the Signature Edition of Kindle Paper Light, it has automatic brightness adjustment.

It costs a little more, but it is easier.

It’s not a surprise, but it gets darker in dark places and brighter in bright places.

I appreciate the automatic adjustment because I don’t like to operate it by myself.

Great for decluttering paper books.

You can get rid of paper books by repurchasing books electronically with Kindle Paper Lite.

You can clear your room.

Even if you don’t have the money to buy new books, you can save money by buying new books in electronic format.

32GB

They say it has enough capacity to hold thousands of books.

You can also delete the data of downloaded books, so it is practically unlimited.

The data is stored in your Amazon account and will not be lost if you destroy the kindle paper light itself.

The room will be clean and the data will remain compact, which is nice.

About Terminals

ConclusionCute.

The feel of the back is really pleasant.

It has a smooth but matte texture mixed in.

It makes me want to keep on slipping on it.

Kawaii.

Long battery life

The battery is surprisingly low.

Officially, it says that one max charge can last for 10 weeks at 30 minutes per day.

In other words, 2,100 minutes = 35 hours!

Highlights are shared

I heard that drawing a line in an e-book is called highlighting.

When I do this with Kindle Paper Lite, it is reflected on other devices (e.g. iPhone).

This surprised me.

Even the screen in sleep mode is dark!

It will go dark even in sleep mode!

Pressing the power button once on the kindle paper light will put it into sleep mode.

What a surprise! If you turn off the room light in that screen state, it will go completely dark.

The screen is displayed, but it’s pitch black! I don’t know but it helps.

Automatically turns off the power.

If you leave it in sleep mode for a while, the power will turn off.

PS Today’s Steps

It doesn’t make me any more productive, but I feel like it was the right thing to do with my money because I love it.

I like reading books and learning new things, and it’s one of my 10 life values.

I used to think that I could use my phone or ipad separately, but I was getting eye fatigue.

I was thinking 22,000 yen just for that…but I am glad I bought it. It was a winner.

Thank you for reading!
